Pickett, Peters Co-Hosting Scam Seminar in Tunkhannock May 9

April 22, 2025

TUNKHANNOCK – In their continuing effort to educate residents about the latest scams, Rep. Tina Pickett (R-Bradford/Wyoming) and Wyoming County District Attorney Joe Peters are co-hosting a scam seminar in partnership with the Pennsylvania Department of Banking and Securities on Friday, May 9, in Tunkhannock. The free event will take place from 10 a.m. to noon at the Triton Hose Company, 116 W. Tioga St.

“Scammers are becoming more aggressive and deceptive, putting our residents at serious risk, especially seniors,” said Pickett and Peters. “This free event is an opportunity for folks to learn how to spot the warning signs and protect themselves before it’s too late.”

The seminar will be led by George Dillman, investor education coordinator with the Pennsylvania Department of Banking and Securities. His presentation will focus on popular scams and how to avoid them, and include “Fraud Bingo,” a fun and interactive game that teaches consumers how to protect themselves from investment scams and other schemes. Coffee and donuts will be provided by the Luzerne/Wyoming County Area Agency on Aging.

Reservations are required and can be made online at RepPickett.com/events or by calling Pickett’s district office in Tunkhannock at 570-836-4777.
