February 24, 2025
HARRISBURG – State funding totaling more than $1.2 million for transportation infrastructure projects in Wyoming County were awarded today, according to Rep. Tina Pickett (R-Bradford/Wyoming) and Sen. Lisa Baker (R-Luzerne/Pike/Susquehanna/Wayne/Wyoming). The two lawmakers played a key role in securing the grants through the Department of Community and Economic Development’s Multimodal Transportation Fund.
The grant awards are as follows:
• Falls Township – $175,000 to replace Stoneridge Bridge.
• Lemon Township – $153,595 to replace a culvert along Schlesser Road.
• Tunkhannock Township – $175,000 to replace two bridges along Dark Hollow Road.
• Washington Township – $700,000 to replace two bridges along Dark Hollow Road.
“The proactive efforts of our local officials in securing state funding for these vital projects are commendable, and I was pleased to work with Sen. Baker in advocating for the grants,” said Pickett. “These new bridges will be an improvement to the county’s transportation network and help to enhance driver safety.”
“This money is a big help for allowing these communities to address critical needs. People who live along these roads and those who drive them every day will certainly appreciate the upgrades,” Baker noted. “State funding pushes up the timetable for completing the projects and alleviates some of the pressure on municipal budgets. I commend local officials and residents for their advocacy.”
Multimodal Transportation Fund grants may be used for the development, rehabilitation and enhancement of transportation assets to existing communities, streetscape, lighting, sidewalk enhancement, pedestrian safety, connectivity of transportation assets and transit-oriented development.
The grants were approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority which holds fiduciary responsibility over the funding of programs and investments in Pennsylvania’s economic growth.
