Pickett Announces Grants for Wyoming County Fire, EMS Companies

HARRISBURG – Fourteen fire and emergency medical services (EMS) companies in Wyoming County were collectively awarded nearly $198,000 in funding support through the 2024-25 Pennsylvania Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program, Rep. Tina Pickett (R-Bradford/Wyoming) announced today.

“It is wonderful to see so many fire and EMS companies in Wyoming County continue to take full advantage of this state program, which helps to lighten their financial load,” said Pickett. The critical life-saving services they provide to our communities are deeply valued and appreciated.”

Projects eligible for funding include construction or renovation of a fire or ambulance company facility, purchase or repair of equipment, training, or reduction of existing debt.

The ongoing funding program was created by the General Assembly. All grants are generated from slot machine gaming proceeds, not General Fund tax revenue.

The Wyoming County grants are as follows:
• Factoryville Fire Company (fire) - $13,740.
• Factoryville Fire Company (EMS) - $15,000.
• FWM Emergency Squad Inc. - $15,000.
• Lake Carey Volunteer Fire Company - $12,879.
• Lake Winola Fire Company 1 (fire) - $15,461.
• Lake Winola Fire Company 1 (EMS) - $15,000.
• Meshoppen Volunteer Fire Company (fire) - $15,031.
• Meshoppen Volunteer Fire Company (EMS) - $15,000.
• Nicholson Fire Company No. 1 - $12,449.
• Northmoreland Township Volunteer Fire Company - $13,740.
• Noxen Community Ambulance Association - $15,000.
• Noxen Volunteer Fire Company – $12,879.
• Triton Hose Company No. 1 - $11,681.
• Tunkhannock Community Ambulance Association - $15,000.

The program is administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency with the application process handled through the Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC). All companies that apply and meet requirements outlined by OSFC receive funding. Companies must file a grant agreement with OSFC to receive their grants.
