Pickett: Wysox Township Receives Almost $20,000 to Broaden Bradford County Comprehensive Plan

September 2, 2026

HARRISBURG – Wysox Township has been awarded a $19,650 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) to join and update the Central Bradford Multimunicipal Comprehensive Plan, Rep. Tina Pickett (R-Bradford/Wyoming) announced today.

Updates will amend the existing document to formally add Wysox and Asylum townships to the comprehensive plan, as well as address outdated planning conditions relating to present-day demographics, land use pressures, infrastructure and housing needs, transportation issues and economic conditions. The funds will be used to commission external planners to provide a coordinated, updated framework to guide growth, support sound land use decisions, improve intergovernmental coordination, and align future investments and implementation strategies across municipal boundaries.

“Strategic planning and collaboration among municipalities are two of the most effective ways to strengthen all of Bradford County and keep our communities moving in the right direction,” said Pickett, who previously served as Bradford County commissioner. “This funding ensures the five municipalities in the plan have the tools and resources they need to update the existing comprehensive plan and begin effectively strategizing the county’s future.”

Wysox and Asylum townships began showing interest in joining the Central Bradford Multimunicipal Comprehensive Plan in early 2026. The plan, which also includes Towanda Borough and North Towanda and Towanda townships, aims to identify and create plans for regional development, recreation opportunities, housing needs, utilities and broadband, floodplain management and more to benefit the entire county.

Funding comes from the DCED’s Municipal Assistance Program, which helps local governments plan for and effectively implement a variety of services and improvements that support residents and strengthen communities.
